The Prototyping and Fabrication course introduces students to diverse concept design methodologies, standard 2D-3D modeling, and fabrication techniques. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of industrial fabrication processes, materials, and their properties.
The course covers basic CAD and CAM processes, enabling students to transform ideas into functional prototypes. It delves into computer-aided design principles, 2D design using Rhinoceros, and 3D modeling. The basics of computer-aided manufacturing, including subtractive methods like Laser and CNC milling, and additive manufacturing such as 3D printing, are explored.
Advanced topics include complex fabrication with industrial robot essentials, CAM software, and actuation strategies. The course equips students with practical skills for prototyping and fabrication, emphasizing hands-on experience and knowledge application in diverse fabrication contexts.
What skills and knowledge are students expected to have.
